Marie brings a wealth of experience in education, journalism and community development. She is a proud teacher and has been for the last 7 years, but her experience goes far beyond that. Marie has formerly served as an education journalist, helped to grow a small business, and worked as an executive director to a non-profit community art center which she also founded. She is eager to serve her community and get to work!

Marie will address the learning loss due to COVID-19. She will work to create innovative programs and opportunities for all students’ success. Marie will help to provide more mental health resources for students and their families.
Marie will advocate for front guard stands at every campus and heightened gates at the rear of schools. Marie recognizes the need for bodily protection equipment for security. She also recognizes the importance of promoting the “See Something, Say Something” program.
Some of District 1’s facilities are aging and are in need of critical updates and renovation, Marie’s goal will be to ensure the district creates a long range master plan so that District 1 facilities and all facilities get the much needed improvements and preventive maintenance.
